Day 16

No Reservation

We have seen the truth demonstrated again and again:
"Once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic." . . .
If we are planning to stop drinking, there must be no reservation of any kind,
nor any lurking notion that someday we will be immune to alcohol.

- Alcoholics Anonymous, p. 33

Can this really be possible? Day 16. Today I have no words of wisdom. I am just happy today and very tired. I went on a date with hubby last night to see Grease at the Teatro. It was short notice, impulsive and more fun that I have had in years - sober. I have decided that I will not say NO to life anymore. I have started a list on this Blog of all the sober things my husband and I do together. Even if it's just getting round to changing all the light bulbs in the kitchen and fixing a leaking tap that's been dripping since March 2009. I think it will be interesting to see what we've accomplished a year later. And the effect on our relationship. I think we might be becoming friends again.
Amazing.

From Koos:

Evening to you SS

Sweet-Sixteen today for you, and reading about your fun last night…never been kissed sober before! You right, never say NO to life. Good for you.

You start with ‘no words of wisdom’ today. There will be more days that you might feel this way. But that is ok, if the words lack, the deeds make up. Like the outing to Grease and fun going with it – sober! You are so fortunate that your husband is joining you on this journey, everything is new, different, exciting…sometimes we don’t need a new partner, just new glasses to see them in a different light.

I remember my early days of sobriety like yesterday. Some days I just sat outside and watched the grass grow, not thinking, just breathing the air and appreciating the mere fact that I’m alive…a miracle.

Help me with the words of a song from Grease... Summer Nights…”Summer loving had us a blast…Summer loving happened so fast…I met a boy (husband) crazy..cute or something…tell me more tell me more”…

SS – Enjoy the new Summer of your life, every minute of it…one day @ time.

Cheers – Koos
