10th June 2010
To all the members of Alcoholics Anonymous SA
Dear Friends
On this very special day, 10th June 2010, the General Service Committee and the staff members of GSO thank you for allowing us to be of service to you. The 10th June 1935 marks the founding day of Alcoholics Anonymous and 75 years later, in South Africa and around the world, our Fellowship is alive and well and still saving lives.
It is with great humility that we at GSO realise the importance of the job that you have entrusted us with. But it is the input and encouragement that we as Committee members receive from you, the members of the fellowship, which has enriched our lives and expanded the meaning of Sobriety for us.
Seventy five years on, we at GSO wish to acknowledge the wisdom of our founders when they stressed the value of Service as the prime requisite for achieving a balanced and long lasting recovery from the disease of alcoholism. Our hope for the future is that our Fellowship might continue to grow in the realization that the path to true recovery lies in service to God and our fellow man.
We wish all the members of our Fellowship a sober and happy Founders Day.
Yours in Service
Peter Kiley
